Currency DJ (the "App") is a currency conversion application developed by emonster, inc. ("we", "our", or "us"). We also operate currencydj.com (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App or Website (together, the "Services").
The Services are designed to work without accounts or direct personal profiles. The App uses a scrub wheel, exact amount entry, currency pickers, local preferences, cached exchange-rate snapshots, and limited diagnostics and analytics. The Website provides product information, guides, support and legal pages, and an interactive rate demo.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The Services do not require an account and do not ask for your name, phone number, contacts, or Apple ID. We receive your email address only if you choose to contact us.
The Services do not show advertising, use Mixpanel, create advertising profiles, or use advertising identifiers to track you across apps or websites.
2. Amount Entry and Currency Conversion
Amounts are entered manually through the App scrub wheel or exact amount sheet, or through the Website demo.
Manual amounts and conversion results are calculated locally and are not uploaded to emonster servers or sent with exchange-rate requests. Currency codes needed to retrieve a rate are sent to the configured exchange-rate provider as described below.
3. Locale-Derived Defaults
Currency DJ may use your device locale and region settings to choose initial currency defaults and favorite currencies. The App does not request location permission and does not send your location to emonster servers.
4. Local App Data
Currency DJ may store limited local data on your device, including:
- Selected source currency;
- Selected target currency;
- Favorite currencies;
- Appearance, haptic, magnetic amount, compact-number, and analytics preferences;
- Related-app promotion display timestamps;
- A random, pseudonymous installation identifier used for diagnostics and analytics correlation;
- The last source amount;
- Cached exchange-rate snapshots used for offline conversion.
Most local app data stays on your device unless you choose to share it through system features outside the App. The pseudonymous installation identifier and limited app context described below may be sent to Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
5. Exchange Rate Requests
When you refresh exchange rates or when the App needs a rate that is not cached, Currency DJ may request exchange-rate data from Frankfurter or another configured exchange-rate provider. These requests generally include the base currency, requested quote currencies, and standard network metadata that a server receives for internet requests, such as IP address, request time, and basic technical connection information.
Currency DJ does not send manual amounts, conversion results, favorite membership or ordering, or unrelated local preferences with exchange-rate requests. Selected currency codes—and, when needed to refresh cached coverage, currency codes drawn from locally stored favorites—may be included in provider requests.
Exchange-rate snapshots are cached locally so the App can continue converting amounts offline after rates have been downloaded.
6. Related App Promotions
Currency DJ may show a local, dismissible promotion for another emonster app. To avoid showing a prompt for an app already installed on your device, Currency DJ may check whether that related app can open through its URL scheme. This check happens locally and is not sent to emonster servers.
7. Analytics and Crash Diagnostics
Currency DJ uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, services provided by Google, by default to understand app usage, measure purchase and onboarding flows, diagnose crashes and non-fatal errors, and improve reliability.
Analytics events may include app version, build number, platform, device family, country or region derived from device locale, returning-user status, onboarding and paywall actions, purchase and restore outcomes, subscription plan identifiers, currency codes, favorite-currency counts, remaining free-conversion counts, and related-app link taps. Currency DJ does not send manually entered amounts or conversion results in analytics events.
Crash diagnostics may include crash reports, stack traces, operating system version, device model or family, app state, app version, build number, pseudonymous installation identifier, breadcrumbs of recent in-app actions, and developer-defined diagnostic keys. Crash reports are used to identify, prioritize, and fix stability issues.
You can turn off future Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collection with the Analytics control in the App’s Settings screen. Turning it off clears the configured Firebase user ID and stops future app analytics and crash-diagnostic collection on that installation. Turning it back on resumes collection with the App’s pseudonymous installation identifier. Changing this setting does not delete data that was collected before you turned it off.
When collection is enabled, Firebase may automatically generate or process identifiers and technical metadata needed to provide Analytics and Crashlytics. We do not use Firebase data to track you across third-party apps or websites, and we do not sell personal data.
8. Website Delivery, Rate Demo, and Optional Analytics
Firebase Hosting and Cloudflare deliver and protect the Website. When you request a page, these providers may process standard network and security information such as your IP address, request URL, time, browser or user-agent details, referring page, and security signals. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies or run a browser challenge when needed to protect the Website. We do not use this information for advertising.
The Website demo automatically requests the latest available reference rate for the displayed currency pair from Frankfurter. The request contains source and target currency codes plus standard network metadata received by the provider. It does not contain the amount you enter or the converted result. The Website may store the selected theme, analytics choice, and cached demo rate in your browser.
Google Analytics 4 for the Website is optional and remains off unless you choose Allow analytics. If allowed, Google may process a pseudonymous browser or client identifier, approximate location derived from network information, browser and device details, sanitized page path and referrer, and a small allowlist of interaction events: App Store link clicks, guide views, screenshot navigation, demo control actions, locale changes, and consent updates. Event parameters are limited to predefined labels. Currency choices, entered amounts, conversion results, free text, email addresses, and full query strings are excluded.
Website analytics uses measurement ID G-3V2HTPKLWF. Advertising storage, Google Signals, ad personalization, and cross-site advertising tracking are disabled in our configuration. You can review or withdraw your choice at any time through Analytics preferences. Withdrawal disables further analytics on that browser, removes the Google Analytics loader, and attempts to remove first-party Google Analytics cookies; it does not erase data already sent to Google.
9. Support Emails
If you choose to contact us from the App or by email, we receive the information you decide to send. A support email may include your message and optional app or device details included in the email template, such as app version, iOS version, device model, locale, region, and language. We use this information to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue you report.
10. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Operate the App;
- Provide approximate currency conversions;
- Cache exchange rates for offline use;
- Measure onboarding, paywall, purchase, restore, conversion-limit, and related-app promotion performance;
- Measure consented Website usage and improve Website content;
- Deliver and protect the Website;
- Diagnose crashes, non-fatal errors, and reliability issues;
- Respond to support, privacy, or legal requests;
- Comply with applicable law and protect our rights.
We do not sell personal data, create advertising profiles, or track your activity across other apps or websites for marketing.
11. How Information Is Shared
Currency DJ shares only the limited information needed for the functions you use:
- Exchange-rate provider: rate refresh requests are sent to the configured rate provider, currently Frankfurter.
- Firebase / Google: app analytics, crash diagnostics, and related technical metadata are processed by Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to help us understand app usage and fix reliability issues.
- Google Analytics: if you consent on the Website, the limited Website analytics described above is processed by Google.
- Firebase Hosting and Cloudflare: Website requests and security metadata are processed to deliver, cache, and protect the Website.
- Email providers: if you email us, your email is handled by the email systems used to send and receive that message.
- Apple: Apple may process information related to App Store distribution, iOS permissions, and device operation under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or valid governmental request.
12. Data Retention
Local preferences and cached exchange-rate snapshots remain on your device until you change settings, clear app data through system mechanisms, or uninstall the App. The pseudonymous installation identifier is stored in the device Keychain and may remain available after reinstall unless removed by system behavior or device reset. Website preferences and cached demo rates remain in browser storage until you clear them; analytics cookies remain until they expire, you clear them, or you withdraw consent. Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Google Analytics, Cloudflare, and hosting data is retained according to our configured service settings and the providers' applicable terms, and we delete or aggregate it when it is no longer reasonably needed. Support emails and related correspondence may be retained as needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
13. Your Choices and Controls
- Offline use: You can use cached exchange rates offline after they have been downloaded.
- App analytics and diagnostics: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collection is enabled by default. Use Analytics in the App’s Settings screen to turn future collection off or back on. Turning it off does not delete data already collected.
- Website analytics: Optional Website analytics stays off unless you allow it. Use Analytics preferences on any Website page to allow, reject, or withdraw consent.
- Browser storage: You can clear Website preferences, cached demo rates, and cookies through your browser controls.
- Support emails: You decide whether to contact us and what to include in your message.
- Uninstalling: You can delete the App to remove its local app data from your device, subject to iOS behavior and backups.
- Privacy requests: You can contact us at privacy [at] emonster [dot] com. Because Currency DJ does not require accounts, we may need information from you to locate records associated with a particular app installation or support request.
14. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The native App does not use browser cookies. When app analytics and diagnostics are enabled, Firebase may use app-instance identifiers or similar app analytics technologies. On the Website, local storage supports theme, consent, and demo-rate caching; Google Analytics cookies or similar identifiers are used only after consent; and Cloudflare may use strictly necessary security technologies. The Services do not use advertising identifiers for tracking across apps or websites.
15. Children's Privacy
Currency DJ is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13, or the minimum age required in your country. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at privacy [at] emonster [dot] com.
16. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled in connection with the Services. No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
17. International Data Transfers
Exchange-rate requests, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data, consented Google Analytics data, Website delivery and security data, and support emails may be processed in countries other than where you live, including the United States or countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
